Jason Momoa in Talks to Star In Upcoming Minecraft Movie


Jason Momoa is in final negotiations to appear in a Warner Bros. live-action Minecraft film, the studio confirmed Tuesday.



The film, which is based on the popular 2011 video game and directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre). Momoa was also in the Warner Bros. movies Aquaman and Dune. The Hollywood Reporter previously reported the Minecraft news.



A Minecraft film was first announced to be in the works at Warner Bros. more than eight years ago. In the year 2020, a release date of March 4, 2022 was delayed indefinitely due to the severity of the pandemic. It is yet to be updated.



Minecraft is among the top-selling games ever allows players to explore 3D worlds that allow them to create items, extract materials and build structures. Minecraft The live-action movie will join several video games-based films, such as Uncharted, Sonic the Hedgehog (and its sequel), and 2021’s Mortal Kombat.



Vu Bui, the founder of Minecraft developer at Mojang Studios, and Lydia Winters are among the film’s directors. Roy Lee and Mary Parent are also producing. Jill Messick, who was a producer on the film prior to her death in 2018, will be given an honorary posthumous award for her work. Cale Boyter and Jon Spaihts are the executive producers of the film. Jon Berg is also a producer.
